Adviser and Director of the Office of Student Engagement — Chris Sligh


Biography

Chris Sligh is from Saginaw, MI, and is currently a second-year Doctoral Student in the Higher Education Student Affairs Leadership program. His future career goals include continuing his career as a Dean of Students or Vice President for Student Affairs at a university. Chris serves as the advisor for WSA since 2007, making him an invaluable asset to WSA and WMU's student body. His position primarily is to provide a historical context for student leaders and serving as a liaison between WSA and various administrators on campus. Chris believes that "WSA is at its best when it operates within a collaborative space. I look to help student leaders find and maximize those collaborative opportunities."

On-campus, Chris services as the Director of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE), multiple adjunct faculty, and part-time instructor roles. The OSE mission is to "engage campus, empower students, and develop leaders." Providing leadership, direction, and support for several areas on campus, including student organizations, fraternity, and sorority life, and the student media group allows them to be successful in living by this mission.

Chis's favorite thing about WMU is the campus, Lawson Lunatics spirit, and seeing the passion and commitment that students have to make the campus and the environment around them better. For fun, he enjoys staying active by playing golf and soccer. When he is not doing this, Chris likes to watch movies and travel with is family.
